Central Iowa Spring Wedding

Spring in Iowa is unpredictable—but the weather on May 31st? Absolute perfection. We still hear about it months later and we feel lucky to have hosted it!

Around here spring can mean anything. Rain, snow (yes, snow. Remember May 2013?), thunderstorms, even risks of tornados! Not to shy you away from a Spring wedding - we know nothing scares you, Iowan’s!

And while we can’t control the weather, we can plan for it. Every couple who books with us gets help building a solid contingency plan, from what happens to when it rains to transitioning things indoors if needed. If we give any advice at all: be careful who you choose for vendors. You want a team that prompt, flexible, and on their A-game—always. When things go to the wayside, the right vendors make all the difference!

Abby and Tyler’s day went off without a hook. Their celebration was full of personal touches that reflected who they are: laid-back, intentional, and fun. Guests were welcomed with coffee from Stella’s Coffee Bar, followed by a Virginia Beach orange crush —a nod to the coastal town where they first met.

And we loved Abby’s guest book—a collection of fabric quilt squares, a beautiful acknowledgement to her love of quilting. What a perfect way to make a guest book purposeful and meaningful!

We love when couples choose fun, interactive entertainment for their guests. During cocktail hour, a live caricature artist added a fun thing for guests to do. The sketches were a hit for both kids and adults!

Dinner featured an elevated buffet, served on a fun, curved serpentine table with seasonal dishes prepared by our Chefs. Shiner beer was on tap as a tribute to Tyler’s Texas roots, alongside a selection of brews that kept the locals happy, too.

For dessert, the couple treated guests to a spread of bakery options—including baklawa, halva chocolate chip cookies, and a selection of cake options from their favorite Kansas City restaurant. It was the perfect sweet finish to a perfect day.

Checkout the vendor team from Abby & Tyler’s wedding. We can’t say enough great things about them all!
